Painting Authenticity & Sharing Pride

I've long believed that art is sanctuary. It's a space where people can show up as themselves without apology. Walking into a gallery, painting in a studio, creating something with your own hands, these are acts of freedom.

That's why I'm particularly proud to work with LGBTQ+ artists, allies, and everyone in between. Your art matters. Your story matters. Your vision, whatever it looks like, deserves to exist in the world.

This Pride Month, I'm thinking about the queer artists who might not yet know that their queerness, their identity, their lived experience is the exact thing that will make their art unforgettable. I'm thinking about the established artists who've been creating brilliant work all along, finally getting the recognition they deserve. I'm thinking about the allies who show up in solidarity, amplifying voices and sharing space.

And I'm thinking about the power of community, how much stronger we all become when we paint together, create together, and celebrate each other's visions.

How I'm Showing Up This June

This Pride Month, I'm doubling down on what I believe:

Art should celebrate the full spectrum of human experience. That means featuring work from and by LGBTQ+ artists, telling stories that matter, and creating space for voices that haven't always had room at the table.

Authenticity is revolutionary. If you're feeling unseen, undervalued, or like your true self isn't "acceptable" somehow, I want you to know that your art (and your existence) is exactly what the world needs.

Community is everything. Whether you're a fellow artist, a collector, a workshop attendee, or just someone who believes in the power of creativity and acceptance, you belong here.

An Invitation

Whether you've been showing up for Pride for decades or this is your first year, whether you're LGBTQ+ or an ally, whether you make art or simply love it, I hope you'll join me in celebrating this month.

Come see the new work. Let's paint together. Let's talk about what it means to create authentically. Let's remind each other that the world is better, more beautiful, and more honest when we all show up as ourselves.

Because here's what I've learned: the bravest thing you can do is paint the truth. The most beautiful thing you can create is a space where others feel safe doing the same.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for your truth. Thank you for the art you bring into the world.
