2024 in Watercolors: Embracing Slow Living, Community, and Creativity as a Queer Artist and Mom
As 2024 comes to a close, I’m taking a moment to reflect on a year filled with art, growth, and meaningful connections. This was the year I embraced my dream of being a full-time artist, painting moments inspired by the beauty of slow living, motherhood, and the magic of the world around me.
From watercolor paintings capturing Sedona’s snowy landscapes and Arizona’s golden deserts to moments spent baby-wearing my daughter while creating, I’ve found inspiration in the smallest, most intentional details. Being a queer mom and small business owner has shaped both my art and my mission—creating work that celebrates love, community, and mindful living.
2024 was also about connection: attending vibrant markets like Farm to Mesa, First Friday Art Walks at Phoenix Center for the Arts, and local small business showcases like Billie & Lulus and Coffee Cartel in Downtown Tempe. I had the joy of joining the valley’s thriving creative community, partnering with spaces like Discover Mercantile, and even chatting about my work with two TV interviews.
This year reinforced that art isn’t just about creating—it’s about showing up, sharing, and being present in the community I call home. Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey this year, from fellow artists to local businesses and everyone who’s taken home a piece of my heart (and art!).
Here’s to 2025—a new chapter full of creativity, connection, and continuing to celebrate the beauty of everyday moments.
